Roses for Shade

Roses need a good level of light to perform well and flower. However, there are a good number of Climbing rose, Rambling roses and some Shrub roses which will also perform well in positions where they get a few hours of direct summer sunshine or, the levels of light are good and not heavily shaded or on a north facing wall/fence.

These roses for shade grown well even when not in direct sunlight. We would recommend using Rootgrow when planting and Empathy Biofertiliser Rose Feed for the best results and to give the roses the best possible conditions for flowering and strong growth and where possible

Overhanging trees and other large plants which reduce light levels to the roses further should be regularly pruned and maintained also to help increase light levels, growth and amount of flowers produced by the roses planted in a shady position.
